Precautions for Iron Oxide Pigments in Plastic Coloring Applications

Apr 04, 2022

1. Iron oxide black contains divalent iron, which can be oxidized, and the process is exothermic. Therefore, the storage temperature of black and brown pigments should not be higher than 80℃.

2. Iron oxide yellow cannot be used in combination with lead salts in PVC, while iron oxide red can react with hydrogen chloride in PVC, and the resulting compound is a catalyst for the degradation of PVC.

3. It has a promoting effect on the ultraviolet light aging iron oxide red of polyethylene PE.

4. Although iron oxide red in polypropylene PP can inhibit photoaging, it may reduce the efficiency of benzotriazole, benzophenone and organic nickel salt light stabilizer in polypropylene by more than 20%.
