Color asphalt pavement is formed by high-temperature mixing of decolorized asphalt, color pigments and aggregates. Compared with ordinary black asphalt, it has higher requirements for pigment temperature resistance and color stability. Deson professional asphalt iron oxide pigments cover full color systems including red, yellow, green, grey and orange. As inorganic mineral pigments, they feature excellent UV resistance, aging resistance and fade resistance, perfectly adapting to conventional hot-mix color asphalt construction processes.
Temperature control is the key during construction. The optimal mixing temperature ranges from 130℃ to 150℃. Too low temperature causes uneven pigment dispersion and color spots, while excessive temperature will affect pigment stability. It is recommended to dry mix pigments and aggregates evenly first, then add asphalt for secondary mixing to avoid local color difference.
Pavement paving and compaction must be completed while the mixture is hot. Compaction after cooling will lead to loose pavement and dull color. In addition, aggregate components vary in different regions, and high-calcium aggregates may cause slight color deviation. It is advised to conduct trial proportioning and paving before formal large-scale construction.
